Although this blog is typically dedicated to wire and cable products, it seemed appropriate to discuss an industry networking event that is fast approaching.
The networking event is organized by The Wire Association International (WAI) New England Chapter and will take place on Thursday, January 30th at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, CT. WAI members as well as non-members are welcome to attend (fees may vary).
According to WAI, the event will feature Bill Kenney as the keynote speaker. According to an article published in The Wire Journal, Kenney has been an active networker for the past 30 years. He founded The Small Business Network, a networking organization for more than 100 non-competing businesses in the Hartford area, according to the article. He also published Why Don't Doctors Cold Call, which is a guide to business networking.
This WAI sponsored event not only gives wire and cable professionals the opportunity for face time with various colleagues and customers, but also the featured speaker promises to provide insight into effective networking strategies.
As various types of social media forums have sprung to life, from Facebook to LinkedIn, business professionals have been left to figure out the best way to harness these electronic forums to advertise thier brand/products and stay in close contact with customers.
Knowing how to navigate these online forums on a professional level and strike a balance between face-to-face interaction and electronic interaction appears to be the recipe for success. It is likely Kenney will explore these concepts during his presentation.
