T & T Marketing offers an extension range of Huntsman IROGRAN® Thermoplastic Polyurethanes (TPU) for extrusion applications. TPU is used in wire and cable applications when high flexibility/elasticity, excellent abrasion resistance, very good cut resistance, high bending stability, and halogen-free characteristics are needed.

Typical applications include cable jacketing for oil and gas exploration, mining cables, automotive brake systems, military, robotics and industrial cables and coiled cables.

Introducing UV Protected TPUs

Posted by Jessica Hoogendoorn

Oct 7, 2014 10:38:00 AM

TPU_cablesT & T Marketing is now offering two Natural UV protected grades of Huntsman thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) for use in offshore, oil and gas, and mining wire and cable applications.

 The two available grades are:

IROGRAN® A 85 P 4394 UV DP                                        (hardness of 85 Shore A)

IROGRAN® A 92 P 4637 UV DP                                       (hardness of 92 Shore A)

Both grades will be available globally and meet REACH regulations.

Over time, exposure to ultraviolet light can cause cable materials to degrade, losing performance in tensile strength, abrasion and elongation.

The inclusion of this UV additive is beneficial for wire and cable manufacturers who are looking to improve performance, increase their cables' longevity, and comply with stringent environmental standards.

The UV protection incorporated in these materials also allows for improved color retention.
