The M. Holland Annual Business Conference gave T&T Marketing the opportunity to build stronger relationships with the M. Holland team and network with customers and suppliers. The theme "Unstoppable" posed as a perfect fit.

3D Printing

One interesting topic was the announcement of M. Holland Company signing a distribution agreement with Owens Corning, a global leader in the glass fiber reinforced composite industry, to distribute the company's XSTRAND™ products.

Owens Corning's XSTRAND™ line of products are high-performance composite filaments for 3D printing, a growing market segment in which M. Holland is investing to support client needs. XSTRAND™ filaments enable the production of 3D printed parts that are 50-250 percent stronger and stiffer, making them structurally superior to traditional 3D printed parts. A 3D printer will be housed at the Easton Laboratory to help with the distribution process. Please contact us with any questions or interest.

Guest Speaker

One highlight of the event was an inspiring presentation by award-winning entrepreneur-turned-publisher, columnist, author, television commentator, private investor and board director, Rich Karlgaard.

   Rich Karlgaard

Rich is the publisher of Forbes magazine and writes a biweekly column, Innovation Rules, known for its witty and honest assessment of current business issues, and serves as a regular panelist on cable news' most popular business show, Forbes on FOX. Watch a 4-minute video here.

We look forward to great opportunities in the future and another successful conference next year!

T & T Technical Director Will Present Paper at IWCS 2015

Posted by Jessica Hoogendoorn

Sep 22, 2015 10:36:23 AM

In addition to having a presence on the exhibit floor, T & T Marketing will also be taking part in a technical presentation at IWCS.

At this year’s conference, T & T’s Technical Director, Paul Lorigan, will be presenting a paper entitled “Quantification of the Flexibility of Flame Retardant Insulation and Jacket Materials When Designing Wire & Cable Products.” The presentation will take place at 2:40 p.m. on Thursday, October 8th. It will be one of the presentations that make up Session 18: Flame Retardant Technology.

In his presentation, Paul Lorigan will discuss the selection of wire and cable insulation and jacket materials for flexible constructions. Design engineers typically seek softer materials. The softness or hardness is most often quantified by Durometer Testing in the Shore A scale. Although there is good correlation between hardness and flexibility with unfilled non-flame retardant materials, there is less correlation as flame retardant fillers are added to flexible polymers. Certain jacket materials can be indistinguishable in hardness but drastically different in their actual flexibility. Lorigan’s paper reviews the ASTM procedure for hardness testing and proposes the use of various flexural moduli as a better method to quantify flexibility.
